How to Play Pot Limit Texas Holdem Online

A Beginners Guide to Pot Limit Texas Hold ‘Em

This type of Hold ‘Em is very similar to the No Limit version, in that you are dealt two hole cards and there is a flop, turn and river containing a total of five community cards. As in No Limit Hold Em, you make the best five carded poker hand from the seven available to you.

How to Play

The cards are dealt as described in the Texas No Limit Hold Em Guide. Then, as the small and big blind have already acted, it is the player to the left of the big blind to act first. This player has the option of folding, calling (making a bet equal to that of the big blind) or raising. When raising in Pot Limit, the most that you can raise the bet to is the size of the poker pot, which is defined as the total of the active pot plus all bets on the table plus the amount the active player must first call before raising.

As in all forms of Hold ‘Em, as long as there is more than one active player there will be a flop, then a round of betting, followed by a turn card, another round of betting, then the all important river card, then a final round of betting. If there is still more than one active player when the betting has finished, both players show their hole cards and whichever hand makes the best five carded poker hand takes the pot.
